
Residence and Visas
UK citizens do not need a visa to visit Spain for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. In the event that you wish to stay longer and you are not already a legal resident in Spain, you will generally have to apply for a visa before coming. The type of visa will depend on your circumstances, and could be: - Student visa - Golden visa (investing over €500,000 in Spain) - Non-lucrative visa (for those with sufficient income and not intending to work) - Work visa (your employer in Spain must apply for this for you) - Family member of an EU citizen or UK citizen with residence in SpainLikewise, Spanish citizens do not need a visa to visit the UK for up to 180 days (but may be required to prove sufficient resources to cover the trip). In the event that you wish to stay longer and you do not already have (Pre-) Settled Status in the UK you will generally have to apply for a visa before going. The type of visa will depend on your circumstances, and could be: - Student visa (for university or for English language courses) - Skilled worker visa

Wills
If you own Spanish assets, then it is highly advisable to have a Spanish will dealing with the distribution of assets upon death. (See FAQ)
This will speed up the probate process and allows you to choose your beneficiaries and pay the lowest Spanish inheritance tax.
This can be done from abroad using a local notary with a Power of Attorney.
